It’s the double-header East Africa has been waiting for. Miguel Gamondi’s Taifa Stars take on Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles twice in five days, first in Uyo and then in Dar es Salaam. For Nigeria, it’s close to must-win after a 3–0 defeat in Guinea-Bissau. For Tanzania, it’s the biggest test of the campaign, seven months before a home AFCON.

What’s at stake
Group L is a host group. Tanzania are already qualified as co-hosts, so only one other team goes to AFCON 2027, and right now Guinea-Bissau lead Nigeria by three points.
- For Nigeria: coach Eric Chelle has said the Tanzania games are “very important” and that Nigeria must win both. Anything less could leave the Super Eagles relying on other results, with Guinea-Bissau at home to Madagascar in the same window.
- For Tanzania: no points are needed to qualify, but the Taifa Stars are still looking for their first win of the campaign. Taking points off Nigeria would be a big confidence boost, and could help decide who joins them from Group L.

- Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi are expected to start in midfield.
- Samuel Chukwueze is ruled out of both games with a hip injury.
