AFCON 2027 Ticket Release Date — When Do Tickets Go on Sale?

📅 03 Jun 2026 ⏱ 11 min read ✍️ AFCON Tanzania Guide

The AFCON 2027 ticket release date has not yet been officially confirmed by CAF — but based on how tickets were sold for every previous AFCON tournament, we know exactly when to expect them, how the sale will work and what you should be doing right now to make sure you do not miss out. This page will be updated the moment CAF announces the official on-sale date.

When Is the AFCON 2027 Ticket Release Date?

CAF has not announced the official AFCON 2027 ticket release date as of June 2026. Based on the pattern from previous tournaments:

TournamentStart DateTickets On SaleLead Time
AFCON 2023 (Côte d’Ivoire)13 Jan 2024October 2023~3 months
AFCON 2025 (Morocco)21 Dec 2025September 2025~3 months
AFCON 2027 (Tanzania/Kenya/Uganda)19 Jun 2027Expected Aug–Oct 2026~8–10 months

AFCON 2027 is a significantly larger logistical operation than previous tournaments — three co-host nations, four venues in Tanzania alone and the first East African edition in decades. CAF may open ticket sales earlier than usual to manage demand across three countries. The safest assumption is August to October 2026 for the first sale phase.

Why the Release Date Matters More for AFCON 2027

AFCON 2027 is not a normal tournament. Several factors make ticket demand — and ticket scarcity — higher than any previous edition:

  • Three host nations — fans from Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda all have automatic emotional investment. Local demand across East Africa will be enormous.
  • Tanzania home matches — Taifa Stars playing at a sold-out Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in front of 60,000 home fans will be the hottest tickets in the tournament. These will sell out within hours of going on sale.
  • Nigeria, Algeria and Morocco — all three bring huge travelling fan bases. Group stage matches involving these nations will disappear almost immediately.
  • Once-in-a-generation event — this is the first AFCON hosted in East Africa since 1976. Fans who have been waiting 50 years for this will not miss it.

How CAF Sells Tickets — The Phase System

CAF does not open all tickets at once. Based on AFCON 2025 in Morocco, the process works in distinct phases:

Phase 1 — Visa Cardholder Pre-sale (48–72 hours)

CAF’s official partnership with Visa gives Visa credit and debit cardholders exclusive early access before the general public. For AFCON 2025 there were two separate Visa pre-sale windows. If you have a Visa card this is your single biggest advantage — pre-sale access to the most in-demand matches before the general public even knows they are available.

Action now: Make sure you have a Visa card ready and your CAF account registered with it as the payment method before the pre-sale window opens.

Phase 2 — General Public Sale

All payment methods accepted. This is when the majority of fans attempt to buy. For Tanzania home matches, Nigeria fixtures and any semi-final — expect these to sell out within hours. Literally hours. The general public sale for the most in-demand AFCON 2025 matches in Morocco sold out within minutes.

Action now: Have your CAF account fully set up with payment details saved so you are buying tickets — not registering — when this window opens.

Phase 3 — Secondary Market

Once official channels sell out, secondary platforms offer remaining tickets at significantly inflated prices. Tanzania vs Nigeria and Tanzania vs Algeria tickets on the secondary market could reach 3x to 5x face value during the tournament. Avoid this by securing tickets in Phase 1 or Phase 2.

Expected AFCON 2027 Ticket Prices

CAF has not confirmed official AFCON 2027 prices. Based on AFCON 2025 Morocco pricing, adjusted for the East African context:

StageCategory 3Category 2Category 1
Group Stage$10–15 USD$20–30 USD$35–50 USD
Round of 16$15–20 USD$30–40 USD$50–70 USD
Quarter-finals$20–30 USD$40–55 USD$65–90 USD
Semi-finals$25–35 USD$50–65 USD$75–100 USD
Final$35–50 USD$65–85 USD$100–130 USD

CAF may price Tanzania matches at lower rates to reflect local purchasing power and encourage maximum home support for Taifa Stars. Final prices will be confirmed when CAF opens the official portal.

The Matches That Will Sell Out First

Do This Right Now — Before Tickets Go On Sale

Every minute you delay registering your CAF account is a minute less preparation time. Here is your action list today:

  1. Go to tickets.cafonline.com and create your account with your email address
  2. Complete your full profile — name and passport number exactly as they appear on your travel document. AFCON tickets are sometimes name-specific and mismatches cause problems at the gate.
  3. Add a Visa card as your payment method — this is your key to Phase 1 pre-sale access
  4. Turn on all email notifications from CAF — release date announcement will come by email first
  5. Follow @CAF_Online on Twitter/X — sale announcements appear there within minutes of going live
  6. Bookmark this page — we update immediately when CAF confirms the release date

How to Avoid Fake Tickets and Touts

Every major tournament generates fraudulent tickets. For AFCON 2027 in Tanzania the risk is significant given the demand. Rules to follow without exception:

  • Only buy from tickets.cafonline.com — the one and only official source
  • Any website selling AFCON 2027 tickets now is fraudulent — official sales have not opened yet
  • Never buy from individuals on WhatsApp, Facebook or Twitter — no matter how convincing they look
  • Never pay by bank transfer to an individual — zero buyer protection
  • Stadium touts on match day — counterfeit tickets are common at major tournaments. If you miss the official sale, use only verified resale platforms with buyer guarantees

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy AFCON 2027 tickets now?

How many tickets can one person buy?

CAF typically limits purchases to 4 to 6 tickets per transaction per account to prevent bulk buying. Exact limits will be confirmed when the portal opens.

Will there be tickets available on the door?

Possibly for lower-demand group stage matches at Arusha and Zanzibar venues. For any Tanzania match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium — do not count on it. Buy in advance.

What happens if my match is rescheduled or cancelled?

CAF’s standard policy is a full refund for cancelled matches and the option to exchange for rescheduled fixtures. Full terms will be published when the ticketing portal opens.
