Your complete guide to AFCON PAMOJA 2027 in Tanzania.
Taifa Stars Next Match 2026 — Tanzania’s Road to AFCON 2027
Taifa Stars — Tanzania’s national football team — are in one of the most significant periods in their history. As automatic qualifiers and co-hosts of AFCON 2027, the team are preparing to face Africa’s elite on home soil for the first time. This page tracks Taifa Stars’ next match, upcoming fixtures and their journey toward AFCON 2027 in Tanzania.
Taifa Stars Next Match — Latest Update
Tanzania’s Taifa Stars were scheduled to face Uganda on June 5 and Rwanda on June 9 in international friendly matches in Marrakech, Morocco as part of the FIFA international window running from June 1 to June 9 2026.
However, Tanzania’s national football team has been forced to cancel both scheduled international friendly matches against Uganda and Rwanda that were set to take place in Marrakech, Morocco, following a last-minute postponement attributed to health concerns raised by Moroccan authorities. The fixtures were called off after the match agents responsible for organising them cited sanitary and public health considerations as the primary reason. Oscar Mirambo, Secretary General of the Tanzania Football Federation, confirmed the development pending an official statement from the organisation.
Tanzania’s next confirmed fixtures will be announced by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) — follow @TFF_Tz on Twitter/X for the latest updates and bookmark this page which will be updated immediately when new fixtures are confirmed.
Why These Matches Mattered — AFCON 2027 Context
These friendly matches carried added significance as Tanzania builds toward hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations alongside Kenya and Uganda. The tournament represents a landmark opportunity for East African football, making current squad development and team cohesion essential priorities. Coach Gamondi was using these encounters to refine his tactical approach and assess the depth of his squad options.
Tanzania are in a unique position among AFCON 2027 participants. As co-hosts, they hold an automatic ticket to the continent’s premier football festival. However, they have been included in the official qualification draw — placed in Group L alongside Nigeria, Algeria and Madagascar — ensuring they face competitive international football rather than low-intensity friendlies as they build toward hosting the tournament.
Taifa Stars in AFCON 2027 — Group L
Tanzania are in Group L of AFCON 2027 qualifying alongside three formidable opponents. All three of Tanzania’s group stage matches will be played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam before their home fans.

The headline fixtures will undoubtedly be the clashes against the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Facing a squad packed with UEFA Champions League talent represents the ultimate stress test for Tanzania’s domestic-heavy roster. Tanzania’s upcoming fixtures in Group L will serve as the ultimate barometer for East African football readiness, exposing any structural weaknesses well before the world arrives in Dar es Salaam.
Coach Miguel Gamondi — Building Toward 2027
In February 2026 Tanzania’s Ministry of Sports extended Miguel Ángel Gamondi’s contract to coach the national football team. The Argentinian coach took charge ahead of AFCON 2025 in Morocco and has been tasked with developing the Taifa Stars into a team capable of performing with dignity — and ambition — on home soil at AFCON 2027.
Gamondi has been assembling squads with a balanced blend of experienced foreign-based professionals and standout domestic league performers, highlighting his intention to strengthen squad depth while building tactical cohesion ahead of competitive fixtures. The integration of foreign-based players serves a dual purpose — bringing international exposure and tactical maturity developed in diverse football environments, while locally based stars view these matches as opportunities to cement their positions.
Taifa Stars — AFCON History
Tanzania has only played in four AFCONs — 1980, 2019, 2023 and 2025. After qualifying for their debut campaign in 1980, Tanzania had to wait 39 years before qualifying for another AFCON — the 2019 edition in Egypt.

Key Players to Watch
Simon Msuva — Tanzania’s most decisive player in recent qualifiers. Msuva’s goal against Guinea on 19 November 2024 secured Tanzania’s place at AFCON 2025. The forward is expected to lead the Taifa Stars attack at AFCON 2027 on home soil.
Novatus Dismas — one of only two players from the squad based in Europe during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Dismas plied his trade with Maccabi Tel-Aviv and brings valuable European experience to the Tanzania squad.
Paston Mnoga — eligible to represent both England and Tanzania at international level. He made his England U17 debut in February 2019 but chose to represent Tanzania, making his debut in a 3-1 friendly win over Central African Republic in March 2022. Mnoga started all three group-stage matches at AFCON 2023.
Cyprian Thobias Kachwele — a Whitecaps FC 2 defender in MLS Next Pro who earned his first call-up to Taifa Stars in 2024. He was called up for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers in September 2024 and debuted on September 10 against Guinea. Represents the growing internationalisation of the Tanzania squad.
What AFCON 2027 Means for Taifa Stars
AFCON 2027 is not just another tournament for Tanzania. It is a once-in-a-generation moment — the first time the Taifa Stars will play at AFCON on home soil, in front of their own fans, at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
A string of heavy defeats during the qualification phase could obliterate national morale and trigger public apathy toward the massive infrastructural spending required to host the tournament. The Taifa Stars are playing for pride and momentum — they must prove to their citizens that they belong on the pitch with Africa’s elite, not just as polite hosts but as legitimate contenders.
Tanzania vs Nigeria on 24 June 2027 at a sold-out Mkapa Stadium will be one of the great occasions in East African football history. For Taifa Stars to win that match — against Africa’s most successful footballing nation in terms of AFCON titles — would be one of the sport’s greatest upsets and one of the most celebrated moments in Tanzanian history.

Last updated: June 2026. Tanzania’s scheduled June 2026 friendlies against Uganda and Rwanda were cancelled due to health concerns in Morocco. Next Taifa Stars fixtures to be confirmed by TFF. This page updated immediately when new fixtures are announced.

Best Flights to Tanzania for AFCON 2027 — Airlines, Routes and When to Book
Getting to Tanzania for AFCON 2027 starts with Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam — the main international gateway and the city hosting the most matches of the tournament. A total of 25 airlines currently operate at Julius Nyerere International Airport, which provides direct service to 21 countries across three continents with Kenya representing its largest international market. This guide covers every major route, the best airlines for fans from across Africa and the world, current price benchmarks and exactly when to book before AFCON 2027 demand pushes fares to double or triple their normal levels.
Julius Nyerere International Airport — DAR
Julius Nyerere International Airport is the international airport of Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania. It is located in Kipawa ward of Ilala District in Dar es Salaam Region and has flights to destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The airport code is DAR. The airport is approximately 6 miles southwest of central Dar es Salaam and handles approximately 200 flights daily.
The airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights. Terminal 2 is the main international terminal. Allow 3 hours before departure for international flights and 2 hours for domestic connections.
For fans attending matches in Arusha rather than Dar es Salaam, the alternative entry point is Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) — 46km from Arusha town centre. Several airlines serve JRO including Air Tanzania, Precision Air and Qatar Airways with a stop in Doha.
Airlines Flying to Dar es Salaam
Airlines currently operating at Julius Nyerere International Airport include Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Emirates, Turkish Airlines, KLM Royal Dutch, EgyptAir, Oman Air, flydubai, Uganda Airlines, Air Tanzania and Precision Air among others.

The Hub Strategy — How to Find Cheaper Flights
For many fans the cheapest route to Tanzania is not to fly directly to Dar es Salaam but to use a hub and connect. The three most useful hubs are:
Addis Ababa (ADD) — Ethiopian Airlines hub Ethiopian Airlines operates approximately 3 flights per day from Addis Ababa to Dar es Salaam. Ethiopian serves over 60 African cities and connects to Europe, North America and Asia. If you can reach Addis Ababa cheaply from your origin, the onward connection to DSM is frequent and reliable.
Nairobi (NBO) — Kenya Airways hub Kenya Airways connects Nairobi to Dar es Salaam multiple times daily in under an hour. Nairobi is also connected to Lagos, Accra, London, Paris and dozens of African cities. Nairobi flights are often cheaper than direct Dar es Salaam routes.
Dubai (DXB) — Emirates and flydubai hub Emirates serves Dar es Salaam directly from Dubai. For fans from North Africa and parts of West Africa where Middle Eastern airlines dominate, flying via Dubai is often the most comfortable and competitive option.
When to Book — The Most Important Section
Booking timing is the single biggest determinant of what you pay for flights to Tanzania for AFCON 2027. Here is the honest breakdown:
When you book
Price vs normal
Availability
Now (Jun–Aug 2026)
Normal or slightly above
✅ Full availability
Sep–Oct 2026
+15–25% above normal
✅ Good availability
Nov–Dec 2026
+30–50% above normal
🟡 Filling up
Jan–Mar 2027
+50–100% above normal
🟡 Limited good options
Apr–May 2027
+80–150% above normal
🔴 Very limited
June 2027 (tournament)
+150–300% above normal
🔴 Near sold out
The recommendation is unambiguous — book now. Current Lagos to Dar es Salaam return fares start from around $370. That same ticket bought in March 2027 could cost $800 to $1,200. Book the moment you have confirmed your match tickets.
Flying into Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) for Arusha Matches
Fans attending matches at the Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium in Arusha should consider flying into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) rather than Dar es Salaam. JRO is 46km from Arusha town — a 45 to 60 minute taxi or shuttle ride costing $10 to $15 USD.
Airlines serving JRO include:
Air Tanzania — domestic connections from DAR
Precision Air — domestic connections
Qatar Airways — international via Doha
KLM — international via Amsterdam
Ethiopian Airlines — via Addis Ababa
If you are splitting your AFCON 2027 trip between Arusha and Dar es Salaam, fly into JRO, attend your Arusha matches, then take a domestic flight or bus to DSM for the Mkapa matches. Precision Air and Air Tanzania both operate multiple daily Arusha to Dar es Salaam flights costing $50 to $120 USD return.
Practical Airport Tips
Getting from Julius Nyerere Airport to the city — the airport is located approximately 6 miles southwest of central Dar es Salaam. Bolt and Uber both operate from the airport. Expect $15 to $25 USD to Msasani or Masaki depending on traffic. The journey takes 30 to 50 minutes in normal conditions and longer on match days. Arrange your hotel transfer in advance if arriving late at night.
Immigration processing time — for international flight passengers it usually takes about one hour to complete immigration procedures and collect luggage at Julius Nyerere International Airport. During AFCON 2027 when multiple international flights arrive simultaneously before major matches, allow up to 2 hours. Do not book any same-day activity too close to your landing time.
Your Tanzania eVisa — have your eVisa approval printed or saved clearly on your phone before boarding. Immigration officers at Julius Nyerere Airport will ask for it. Applying at least 3 to 4 weeks before travel is essential during the AFCON 2027 period when application volumes will be high. See our complete practical guide for the full visa process.
Local SIM at the airport — all four major Tanzanian operators have desks in the arrivals hall. Buy your SIM immediately on arrival rather than relying on your home network. See our SIM card guide for which network to choose.
Flight Booking Checklist
✅ Confirm your AFCON 2027 match tickets first — then book flights around confirmed dates
✅ Book as early as possible — ideally now or within the next 2 to 3 months
✅ Check both DAR (Dar es Salaam) and JRO (Kilimanjaro/Arusha) depending on your match schedule
✅ Consider hub strategy — flying via Nairobi or Addis Ababa is often cheaper than direct routes
✅ Set price alerts on Google Flights, Skyscanner and Kayak for your specific route
✅ Apply for your Tanzania eVisa before booking non-refundable fares
✅ Book refundable fares where possible — circumstances can change in the 12 months before the tournament
✅ Download Bolt and Uber before you arrive — you need them working from minute one at the airport

All prices are current market rates as of June 2026 sourced from Trip.com, Kayak and airline websites. AFCON 2027 tournament period prices will be significantly higher. Book early for best availability and fares.
Where to Stay in Dar es Salaam for AFCON 2027 — Best Areas, Hotels and Tips for Fans
Choosing where to stay in Dar es Salaam for AFCON 2027 requires understanding one important geographical fact that many travel guides get wrong. Benjamin Mkapa Stadium is located in Miburani, Temeke District — on the southern side of Dar es Salaam. The popular tourist and expat areas of Msasani, Masaki and Oyster Bay are on the northern Msasani Peninsula, on the opposite side of the city. Nothing is within walking distance of the stadium. This guide is based on verified hotel data and real distances so you can make the right choice for your trip.
Understanding Dar es Salaam’s Layout
Benjamin Mkapa Stadium is located in Miburani ward, Temeke District, about 6km from Dar es Salaam city centre. The city centre sits between the stadium in the south and the Msasani Peninsula in the north. Getting from Msasani to the stadium means crossing the entire city — expect 30 to 50 minutes by Bolt during normal traffic and longer on match days.
For AFCON 2027 fans this creates a real choice — stay close to the stadium in Temeke for easy match access, or stay in the more tourist-friendly northern areas and commute to matches.

How Much Does It Cost to Attend AFCON 2027 in Tanzania — Complete Budget Guide
How much does it cost to attend AFCON 2027 in Tanzania? It is the first question every fan asks after checking the fixture list. The honest answer is that Tanzania is one of the most affordable AFCON host nations in decades — significantly cheaper than Morocco 2025 for most African visitors — but costs vary enormously depending on where you are travelling from, how long you stay and how you choose to experience the tournament. This guide breaks down every cost so you can plan your budget accurately.
The Quick Answer — Budget Ranges

AFCON 2027 Host Countries, Cities and Dates — Everything You Need to Know
AFCON 2027 — officially known as TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 — will be hosted by three East African nations: Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. The tournament runs from 19 June to 17 July 2027, making it 29 days of African football across three countries. It is the first AFCON held in East Africa since Ethiopia hosted in 1976 — a 51-year wait that makes this edition genuinely historic.
Who Is Hosting AFCON 2027?
Three nations are co-hosting AFCON 2027 under the PAMOJA banner — a Swahili word meaning “together.” This is the first time in AFCON history that the tournament has been co-hosted by more than one nation.

All three nations qualify automatically for the final tournament as co-hosts. Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda do not need to go through qualifying — they have guaranteed berths in the 24-team final tournament regardless of their qualifying results.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe has been unequivocal about the tournament going ahead. Speaking in Tanzania, Motsepe confirmed: “I know AFCON will be staged here. We have done a lot to have AFCON held in East Africa and our commitment remains.” Tanzania and Uganda have both paid their required CAF hosting fees. Kenya has been working to meet its financial obligations to CAF ahead of the tournament.
AFCON 2027 Opening Match Date
The AFCON 2027 opening match is scheduled for 19 June 2027. The opening ceremony and first match of the tournament will take place at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — the largest venue of the tournament with a capacity of 60,000.
The opening match has not been officially confirmed by CAF but is widely expected to feature Tanzania Taifa Stars as the lead host nation. Tanzania are in Group L alongside Nigeria, Algeria and Madagascar. A Tanzania home match on opening night at a sold-out Mkapa Stadium would be one of the great moments in East African football history.

AFCON 2027 Host Cities — Complete Guide
🇹🇿 Tanzania — Lead Host
Tanzania hosts the most matches of the three co-host nations across four venues in three cities. It is the most diverse host nation of AFCON 2027 — a coastal metropolis, a highland safari city and an island UNESCO World Heritage Site all within the same country.
Dar es Salaam — Tanzania’s largest city and commercial capital. Population 4 million. Home to Benjamin Mkapa Stadium — the tournament’s flagship 60,000-capacity venue. The opening match, multiple group stage fixtures, knockout rounds and potentially the semi-final will all be played here. The Msasani Peninsula area is where most visiting fans will stay — international hotels, restaurants, fan zones and easy access to the stadium.
Arusha — the safari capital of East Africa, located at the foot of Mount Meru and 80km from Mount Kilimanjaro. The Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium (30,000 capacity) has been fully modernised for AFCON 2027. Combining an AFCON match in Arusha with a Serengeti or Ngorongoro safari is one of the most extraordinary experiences available anywhere in world football.
Zanzibar — a UNESCO World Heritage archipelago hosting AFCON matches for the first time in history. Stone Town, white sand beaches and the Indian Ocean provide the most visually spectacular setting of any AFCON venue ever. Two venues — the renovated Amaan Stadium (15,000) and brand new Maisara Sports Complex (25,000) — host group stage matches on the island.
🇰🇪 Kenya — Co-host
Kenya hosts matches in Nairobi at the Talanta Stadium. Kenya are in Group D of qualifying alongside South Africa, Guinea and Eritrea. As co-hosts they also qualify automatically. Nairobi is a major East African hub with excellent flight connections from across Africa and beyond — many fans attending AFCON 2027 will fly through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
🇺🇬 Uganda — Co-host
Uganda hosts matches in Kampala. Uganda are in Group H of qualifying alongside Tunisia, Libya and Botswana. Like Tanzania and Kenya they qualify automatically as co-hosts. Kampala’s Mandela National Stadium and Phillip Omondi Stadium are the designated venues.

Why East Africa — The PAMOJA Story
PAMOJA means together in Swahili — and it is the most fitting name CAF could have chosen for this tournament. The co-hosting arrangement between Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda represents something beyond football. Three East African nations that share borders, culture, language and history coming together to host the continent’s greatest football tournament for the first time.
East Africa has waited a long time for this moment. The last time AFCON was held in the region was 1976 when Ethiopia hosted. That is 51 years. An entire generation of East African football fans who have watched every AFCON tournament held in West Africa, North Africa and Southern Africa — but never at home. PAMOJA 2027 changes that.
The economic and tourism impact is also significant. Tanzania alone expects hundreds of thousands of visitors during the tournament period. Hotel bookings, flights, safaris, restaurant revenue and the global broadcast attention that comes with hosting AFCON will transform East Africa’s profile as a football destination.
AFCON 2027 Teams — The Groups
24 teams compete at AFCON 2027 — three automatic co-hosts and 21 teams through qualifying. The qualifying group draw took place on 19 May 2026. Tanzania are in Group L — the group that will generate the most interest for fans travelling to Dar es Salaam.

AFCON 2027 Ticket Release Date — When Do Tickets Go on Sale?
The AFCON 2027 ticket release date has not yet been officially confirmed by CAF — but based on how tickets were sold for every previous AFCON tournament, we know exactly when to expect them, how the sale will work and what you should be doing right now to make sure you do not miss out. This page will be updated the moment CAF announces the official on-sale date.
When Is the AFCON 2027 Ticket Release Date?
CAF has not announced the official AFCON 2027 ticket release date as of June 2026. Based on the pattern from previous tournaments:
Tournament
Start Date
Tickets On Sale
Lead Time
AFCON 2023 (Côte d’Ivoire)
13 Jan 2024
October 2023
~3 months
AFCON 2025 (Morocco)

September 2025
~3 months
AFCON 2027 (Tanzania/Kenya/Uganda)
19 Jun 2027
Expected Aug–Oct 2026
~8–10 months
AFCON 2027 is a significantly larger logistical operation than previous tournaments — three co-host nations, four venues in Tanzania alone and the first East African edition in decades. CAF may open ticket sales earlier than usual to manage demand across three countries. The safest assumption is August to October 2026 for the first sale phase.
Why the Release Date Matters More for AFCON 2027
AFCON 2027 is not a normal tournament. Several factors make ticket demand — and ticket scarcity — higher than any previous edition:
Three host nations — fans from Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda all have automatic emotional investment. Local demand across East Africa will be enormous.
Tanzania home matches — Taifa Stars playing at a sold-out Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in front of 60,000 home fans will be the hottest tickets in the tournament. These will sell out within hours of going on sale.
Nigeria, Algeria and Morocco — all three bring huge travelling fan bases. Group stage matches involving these nations will disappear almost immediately.
Once-in-a-generation event — this is the first AFCON hosted in East Africa since 1976. Fans who have been waiting 50 years for this will not miss it.
How CAF Sells Tickets — The Phase System
CAF does not open all tickets at once. Based on AFCON 2025 in Morocco, the process works in distinct phases:
Phase 1 — Visa Cardholder Pre-sale (48–72 hours)
CAF’s official partnership with Visa gives Visa credit and debit cardholders exclusive early access before the general public. For AFCON 2025 there were two separate Visa pre-sale windows. If you have a Visa card this is your single biggest advantage — pre-sale access to the most in-demand matches before the general public even knows they are available.
Action now: Make sure you have a Visa card ready and your CAF account registered with it as the payment method before the pre-sale window opens.
Phase 2 — General Public Sale
All payment methods accepted. This is when the majority of fans attempt to buy. For Tanzania home matches, Nigeria fixtures and any semi-final — expect these to sell out within hours. Literally hours. The general public sale for the most in-demand AFCON 2025 matches in Morocco sold out within minutes.
Action now: Have your CAF account fully set up with payment details saved so you are buying tickets — not registering — when this window opens.
Phase 3 — Secondary Market
Once official channels sell out, secondary platforms offer remaining tickets at significantly inflated prices. Tanzania vs Nigeria and Tanzania vs Algeria tickets on the secondary market could reach 3x to 5x face value during the tournament. Avoid this by securing tickets in Phase 1 or Phase 2.
Expected AFCON 2027 Ticket Prices
CAF has not confirmed official AFCON 2027 prices. Based on AFCON 2025 Morocco pricing, adjusted for the East African context:

How to Avoid Fake Tickets and Touts
Every major tournament generates fraudulent tickets. For AFCON 2027 in Tanzania the risk is significant given the demand. Rules to follow without exception:

Any website selling AFCON 2027 tickets now is fraudulent — official sales have not opened yet
Never buy from individuals on WhatsApp, Facebook or Twitter — no matter how convincing they look
Never pay by bank transfer to an individual — zero buyer protection
Stadium touts on match day — counterfeit tickets are common at major tournaments. If you miss the official sale, use only verified resale platforms with buyer guarantees
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I buy AFCON 2027 tickets now?
No. As of June 2026 the official CAF ticketing portal for AFCON 2027 has not opened. Any site claiming to sell AFCON 2027 tickets right now is not legitimate. Register your CAF account and wait for the official announcement.
How many tickets can one person buy?
CAF typically limits purchases to 4 to 6 tickets per transaction per account to prevent bulk buying. Exact limits will be confirmed when the portal opens.
Will there be tickets available on the door?
Possibly for lower-demand group stage matches at Arusha and Zanzibar venues. For any Tanzania match at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium — do not count on it. Buy in advance.
What happens if my match is rescheduled or cancelled?
CAF’s standard policy is a full refund for cancelled matches and the option to exchange for rescheduled fixtures. Full terms will be published when the ticketing portal opens.
Can I get tickets as a Tanzania resident at a local price?
CAF offered resident pricing for AFCON 2025 host nation fans. It is reasonable to expect a similar provision for Tanzania residents for AFCON 2027. Details to be confirmed by CAF.

How to Get Tickets for AFCON 2027 Fixtures
Official AFCON 2027 tickets are not yet on sale as of June 2026. CAF is expected to open ticket sales between August and October 2026 via the official portal at tickets.cafonline.com. Tanzania home matches will be the highest demand tickets in the tournament — register your CAF account now so you are ready the moment sales open.
For the complete ticket guide including expected prices, how CAF sells tickets and how to avoid touts see our AFCON 2027 tickets guide.
AFCON 2027 Format
AFCON 2027 follows the same 24-team format used since 2019:
24 teams divided into 6 groups of 4
Top 2 from each group plus the 4 best third-placed teams advance to the Round of 16
Single elimination from Round of 16 onwards
3rd place play-off and Final on the same day — 17 July 2027
Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda qualify automatically as co-hosts
Tanzania’s Path to the Final
If Tanzania qualify from Group L — which as hosts they are highly motivated to do — their knockout path would be:
Round of 16: vs a third-placed team or group runner-up — likely at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, DSM
Quarter-final: potentially at Mkapa Stadium
Semi-final: at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium if Tanzania progress — 13 or 14 July 2027
Final: 17 July 2027 — venue TBC by CAF
For the full Group L breakdown including Nigeria, Algeria and Madagascar team profiles and Tanzania’s chances of qualifying see our Match Hub Taifa Stars section.
Broadcast — Where to Watch AFCON 2027 Fixtures
Tanzania matches will be broadcast free on TBC Tanzania — the national state broadcaster — with no subscription required. SuperSport carries the full tournament on DSTV across East and Southern Africa. AFCON 2027 Tickets — How to Buy, Prices, and Everything Fans Need to Know
AFCON 2027 tickets are among the most searched topics for the Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda tournament and official sales have not opened yet.
Based on how CAF sold tickets for AFCON 2025 in Morocco and previous tournaments, we know exactly how the process works, what prices to expect, which matches will sell out fastest and what you need to do right now. This is your complete guide.
Are AFCON 2027 Tickets on Sale Yet?
No — as of June 2026, CAF has not opened the official ticketing portal for AFCON 2027. Based on previous tournaments, ticket sales typically open 8 to 12 months before the tournament. With AFCON 2027 kicking off on 19 June 2027, the earliest realistic sale date is August to October 2026.
The only way to guarantee you hear the moment tickets go on sale:
Follow CAF’s official Twitter/X account — @CAF_Online
Bookmark this page — we update it the moment CAF confirms sale dates
Where to Buy — Official Channel Only
There is one legitimate place to buy AFCON 2027 tickets — the CAF official ticketing portal at tickets.cafonline.com. Any website selling AFCON 2027 tickets before CAF opens official sales is fraudulent. No exceptions.
After the initial sale, secondary market platforms may have tickets available once official CAF channels sell out — but prices will be significantly higher than face value. Only use platforms with verified buyer protection policies and check seller guarantees carefully before purchasing.
Expected Ticket Prices
CAF has not announced official AFCON 2027 prices. Based on AFCON 2025 pricing in Morocco — where group stage tickets started at around $11 USD and finals reached $65 USD for top category — and adjusting for the East African context, here is what fans can realistically expect:
Stage

Category 2 (Mid)
Category 1 (Premium)

$20–30 USD
$35–50 USD

Estimates based on AFCON 2025 Morocco pricing. Official AFCON 2027 prices will be confirmed by CAF. East African pricing may be lower to reflect local purchasing power.
Which Matches Will Sell Out Fastest
Not all AFCON 2027 tickets are equal in demand. Based on the groups and host city assignments, these are the matches that will disappear within hours of going on sale:
Tanzania Home Matches — Hardest Tickets in the Tournament
Tanzania Taifa Stars are in Group L alongside Nigeria, Algeria and Madagascar. All three group stage matches are played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam — 60,000 capacity, Tanzania’s largest venue and the tournament flagship. Local demand will be extraordinary. This is Tanzania’s first AFCON as hosts. Book the moment sales open.
Tanzania group stage fixtures:
Tanzania vs Algeria — 20 June 2027, 20:00 EAT, Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, DSM
Tanzania vs Nigeria — 24 June 2027, 17:00 EAT, Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, DSM
Tanzania vs Madagascar — 28 June 2027, 20:00 EAT, Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, DSM
Nigeria Matches — High Demand from Travelling Fans
Nigeria’s Super Eagles consistently bring the largest travelling support of any African nation. Nigeria matches in Tanzania will see enormous demand from Nigerian fans flying in — expect Group L fixtures to sell out extremely fast from both sides.
Algeria Matches — Passionate Travelling Support
Algeria qualified automatically as tournament favourites and bring one of the most passionate fan bases in African football. Tanzania vs Algeria on opening weekend will be one of the most sought-after tickets in the group stage.
Knockout Stage Matches at Mkapa
Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam is confirmed as a knockout stage venue. If Tanzania progress from Group L, their round of 16 and quarter-final matches at Mkapa will be essentially impossible to get through official channels. Buy group stage tickets as your insurance.
Matches in Arusha and Zanzibar
AFCON 2027 matches are spread across four venues in three cities. For fans combining football with tourism — and in Tanzania that combination is genuinely world-class — Arusha and Zanzibar matches offer a slightly easier ticket opportunity than the DSM fixtures.
Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium, Arusha — 30,000 capacity, group stage matches, spectacular Mount Meru backdrop
Amaan Stadium, Zanzibar City — 15,000 capacity, renovated for AFCON 2027, historic Stone Town setting
Maisara Sports Complex, Zanzibar — 25,000 capacity, brand new build, first major sports facility on Zanzibar Island
CAF’s partnership with Visa gives Visa cardholders exclusive early access — typically a 48 to 72 hour window before general sale. For AFCON 2025 in Morocco there were two Visa pre-sale windows. If you have a Visa card, this is your best chance at high-demand matches. Have your card registered on the CAF portal before the pre-sale opens.
Phase 2 — General Public Sale
All payment methods accepted. Tanzania home matches, Nigeria fixtures and any semi-final will sell out within hours — sometimes within minutes. Have your CAF account set up, payment details saved and be ready at the exact moment the sale opens.
Phase 3 — Secondary Market
For sold-out matches, secondary platforms enter the picture. Expect 2x to 5x face value for Tanzania home matches and knockout rounds. Only use platforms with verified buyer protection.
Register Your CAF Account Now
Do this today even though tickets are not yet on sale:
Complete your profile with full name and passport details exactly as they appear on your passport — AFCON tickets are sometimes name-specific
Add a Visa card as your payment method for pre-sale access
Turn on all email notifications from CAF
Having your account set up in advance means when the sale opens you are buying tickets — not registering — while they disappear.
Avoid Touts and Fake Tickets
Never buy from individuals on social media — Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter/X. No exceptions.
Never pay by bank transfer to an individual — no buyer protection, no recourse if tickets are fake
Never buy from any website before CAF opens official sales — if CAF has not opened the portal, no one else has legitimate tickets
Avoid stadium touts on match day — counterfeit tickets are common at major tournaments
If a price seems too good it is a scam — Tanzania vs Nigeria tickets will not be going cheap anywhere
Planning Around Your Tickets
If you are flying to Tanzania specifically for AFCON 2027, get your ticket sequence right:
Secure your tickets first — the moment official sales open
Book flights and accommodation once matches are confirmed
Apply for your Tanzania eVisa with dates confirmed — apply at least 3 to 4 weeks before travel
Do not book non-refundable flights before you have tickets for the specific matches you want to attend. Tanzania matches will sell out — plan accordingly.

The Ultimate AFCON 2027 Bucket List for Tanzania — 20 Things to Do Beyond the Football
AFCON 2027 in Tanzania is not just a football tournament. It is a doorway into one of the most extraordinary countries on earth — a nation of Indian Ocean islands, snow-capped mountains, ancient spice trade cities and the greatest wildlife spectacle on the planet. Most fans will come for the football and leave having experienced something that changes how they see Africa entirely. Here are 20 things to do while you are here that have nothing to do with the final score.
In Dar es Salaam
1. Watch Sunset at Coco Beach
Dar es Salaam’s most beloved public beach on the Msasani Peninsula. No entry fee, cold local beer from the vendors along the shore, and an Indian Ocean sunset that turns the sky every shade of orange and gold.
On Tanzania match nights this beach becomes a fan zone. On any other evening it is simply one of the most beautiful places in East Africa to sit and do nothing. Go at around 17:30 and stay until dark.
2. Eat at the Slipway Food Park
A waterfront complex of restaurants, bars and food stalls on the Msasani Peninsula. Not the cheapest option in DSM but reliably excellent — fresh seafood, grilled meats, cold drinks and a harbour view. On match nights it transforms into one of the city’s biggest fan zones. Worth visiting on a non-match night too for a relaxed dinner with the Indian Ocean in front of you.
3. Walk Around Kariakoo Market
The real Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s largest and most chaotic urban market — a maze of stalls selling everything from fresh fish and tropical fruit to phone accessories, fabrics and spices. Go on a weekday morning when it is at its most alive. Eat maandazi and drink fresh juice from the market vendors for under a dollar. Keep your phone in your front pocket and embrace the organised chaos.
4. Try Nyama Choma at a Local Joint
Not at a tourist restaurant. Find a local nyama choma spot recommended by your hotel or a Tanzanian you meet — a roadside place with plastic chairs, charcoal grills and goat meat that has been cooking since morning. Order it with ugali and kachumbari, eat with your hands if the custom suggests it, and understand why Tanzanians consider this the greatest food on earth. Budget 15,000 to 25,000 TZS.
5. Visit the National Museum
Tanzania’s National Museum in the city centre houses some of the most significant archaeological finds in human history — including fossil remains from Olduvai Gorge in the Rift Valley that pushed back the known timeline of human evolution. It is not a flashy museum but the content is genuinely remarkable. Budget two hours and go in the morning before the heat peaks. Entry is a few thousand shillings.
6. Take a Boat to Bongoyo Island
A small uninhabited marine reserve island 8km off the DSM coast. Hire a boat from Slipway — takes about 20 minutes. White sand, clear water, snorkelling, picnic area and a beach bar. No cars, no noise, no crowds on weekdays. Exactly what you need between two intense match days. Boats run from around 09:00. Go early and come back in the afternoon.
In Zanzibar
7. Get Lost in Stone Town
Do not plan this one. Put your phone away, pick a direction and walk. Stone Town’s narrow alleys, carved wooden doors, ancient mosques, Portuguese fort and crumbling Omani mansions are best discovered by getting genuinely lost. Every corner holds something — a spice seller, a child’s football game against an ancient wall, a rooftop view over terracotta rooftops to the ocean. Budget a full day and no agenda.
8. Eat Everything at Forodhani Night Market
Stone Town’s waterfront food market opens every evening at sunset and is one of the great street food experiences anywhere in the world. Grilled octopus cooked to order, Zanzibar pizza in every flavour, fresh sugarcane juice, coconut water and mishkaki skewers for a few hundred shillings each. Eat everything. Talk to the vendors. Watch the dhows in the harbour. Stay until the market closes. This costs about $3 USD for a full meal and is worth more than most $50 restaurant dinners.
9. Go on a Spice Farm Tour
Zanzibar was the spice capital of the world for centuries — cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, vanilla, black pepper and nutmeg all grew here and changed global cuisine forever. A half-day spice farm tour costs $15 to $25 USD including transport and takes you to working farms where guides explain how each spice grows, what it looks, smells and tastes like fresh from the plant, and how the trade routes shaped the island’s history. One of the best half-days you can spend anywhere in East Africa.
10. Watch the Sunset from Kendwa Beach
Zanzibar’s north coast is famous for sunsets but Kendwa specifically — just south of the more crowded Nungwi — has the calmest water, the least crowded beach and a genuinely stunning view as the sun drops into the Indian Ocean. The full moon parties at Kendwa Rocks are legendary. If your AFCON schedule aligns with a full moon, this is unmissable.
11. Snorkel at Mnemba Atoll
The best snorkelling in Tanzania and among the best in the entire Indian Ocean. Mnemba Atoll off the northeast coast of Zanzibar has dolphins, sea turtles, reef fish in extraordinary variety, and seasonal whale sharks. Half-day snorkel trips depart from Matemwe and Nungwi. Book through your hotel — reputable operators cost $40 to $60 USD and include equipment, guide and boat. If you have never snorkelled before, this is the place to start.
12. Swim in the Indian Ocean at Nungwi
This sounds simple but it is not. The Indian Ocean at Nungwi on a clear June morning — warm, turquoise, calm enough to float — is one of those experiences that stops you mid-thought and makes you entirely present. No Instagram caption does it justice. Swim out past the dhows, float on your back and look at the sky. That is it. That is the whole activity.
In Arusha and Northern Tanzania
13. Go on Safari in the Serengeti
The Serengeti in June and July hosts the Great Migration — one to two million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra moving north through the plains in one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth. This is not a zoo. This is 15,000 square kilometres of open savannah with lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs and a horizon that goes on forever. A two-day safari from Arusha costs from $400 to $800 USD per person depending on operator and accommodation. Book months in advance — operators fill up during AFCON period.
14. Visit Ngorongoro Crater
The world’s largest intact volcanic caldera — a 260 square kilometre bowl that functions as a natural enclosure for one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. You will see lions, elephants, hippos, flamingos and possibly black rhino in a single half-day game drive without leaving the crater floor. Closer to Arusha than the Serengeti and easier to combine with a single match day schedule. Entrance fees apply — go with a licensed operator.
15. See Mount Kilimanjaro
You almost certainly will not climb it — the summit takes 6 to 8 days. But seeing it is free and extraordinary. On a clear morning from Arusha — which is most mornings in June and July — Kilimanjaro appears above the clouds as a snow-covered volcanic cone hanging impossibly high above the horizon. Drive toward Moshi for the clearest views. The sight of Africa’s highest mountain from the road at sunrise on the way to an AFCON match is something you will describe for the rest of your life.
16. Do a Walking Safari in Arusha National Park
Fifteen kilometres from Arusha town centre. The only place near any of the AFCON host cities where you can walk alongside wildlife on foot — giraffe, zebra, buffalo, colobus monkeys and flamingo lakes. A half-day walking safari costs $60 to $100 USD and needs no overnight stay. Perfect for the day before or after an Arusha match when you do not want a long drive but want something genuinely memorable. Book through a licensed operator in Arusha town.
17. Drink Ethiopian Coffee in Arusha
Arusha has a substantial East African diaspora community and several excellent Ethiopian restaurants serving the traditional coffee ceremony — three rounds of strong, spiced coffee served with popcorn in a ritual that takes about an hour. It is a cultural experience as much as a drink. Find one on Haile Selassie Road, arrive with time to spare and let the ceremony happen at its own pace. Cost around 5,000 to 10,000 TZS.
Across Tanzania
18. Learn Three Words of Swahili and Use Them
Not from a phrasebook. From a Tanzanian. Ask your hotel receptionist, your bajaji driver or the person selling you nyama choma to teach you something. “Twende Taifa Stars” — let’s go Tanzania. “Asante sana” — thank you very much. “Pole pole” — slowly slowly, the national philosophy of life. Use each one genuinely once and watch the reaction. No amount of money buys what those three phrases will give you in terms of human connection.
19. Watch a Local Football Match
Simba SC versus Young Africans — the Dar es Salaam derby — is one of the most intense football atmospheres in Africa. If a local league match falls during your AFCON trip, go. The drums, the colour, the absolute commitment of the local fans and the football itself will give you a completely different perspective on the sport than any international tournament. Ask at your hotel or check Tanzania Premier League fixtures for what is scheduled during your stay.
20. Stay One Day Longer Than You Planned
Every AFCON 2027 visitor who has ever been to Tanzania before will tell you the same thing — you always wish you had stayed longer. Book your return flight with at least one buffer day after your last planned activity. Use it for whatever the trip has shown you that you did not expect to love. It might be a beach. It might be a market. It might be sitting in a fan zone with people you met three days ago watching a match you had no stake in. Tanzania has a way of producing those moments. Leave room for them.
