A summer AFCON: good news for Premier League clubs
Recent tournaments were played in the middle of the European season. AFCON 2023 was held in January and February 2024, and AFCON 2025 in December 2025 and January 2026, so clubs lost their African players for weeks. AFCON 2027 is different: it is played in June and July, after the Premier League season ends. Clubs keep their players for the whole campaign, and fans can follow the tournament without missing league games.
