Matchday 3 & 4 Fixtures

Wednesday 11 November ยท Sunday 15 November 2026

Quick answer

Matchday 3 of AFCON 2027 qualifying is played on Wednesday 11 November 2026 and Matchday 4 on Sunday 15 November 2026. Every team plays the same opponent twice, home and away. The biggest games are Nigeria v Tanzania (11 Nov) and Tanzania v Nigeria (15 Nov) in Group L, and South Africa v Kenya and Kenya v South Africa in Group D. CAF has not yet published kick-off times. We will add them in East Africa Time (EAT) as soon as it does.

After two matchdays, eight teams have a perfect six points. The November window is a double-header: each pair of teams plays twice in five days. By 15 November, after four of the six games, most groups will have clear leaders, and some teams will already be in serious trouble. See the latest positions on our AFCON 2027 qualifiers table.

The big games to watch

Nigeria v Tanzania (Group L)

This is the tie East Africa is waiting for. Nigeria host the first game on 11 November. The Super Eagles have played their home games at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, but Nigerian media report that the renovated Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos is being considered. CAF has not approved a venue yet. The return game on 15 November is in Tanzania, reported to be in Zanzibar, where the Taifa Stars played Guinea-Bissau in Matchday 1.

Why it matters: Tanzania are already qualified as co-hosts, but Nigeria are fighting Guinea-Bissau for Group L’s only other place. Guinea-Bissau have 6 points and Nigeria have 3 after losing 3โ€“0 in Bissau. Points dropped against Tanzania could finish Nigeria’s chances. For the Taifa Stars, it’s two competitive games against one of Africa’s biggest teams, seven months before the tournament.

South Africa v Kenya (Group D)

Bafana Bafana lead Group D with 6 points and a +6 goal difference. Kenya, the co-hosts, have 1 point. South Africa host the first game on 11 November and Kenya host the return on 15 November. Two wins would put South Africa on 12 points and very close to the group’s single non-host place.

Cรดte d’Ivoire v The Gambia (Group C)

The two leaders of Group C both have 6 points. The Gambia came from two goals down to win 4โ€“2 in Ghana. Whoever wins this double-header will be the clear favourite for first place.

Mali v Rwanda (Group K)

Another meeting of two perfect teams, both on 6 points. Rwanda have been one of the surprises of qualifying so far.

Ghana v Somalia (Group C)

Ghana are bottom of Group C with no points after two games. Anything less than two wins against Somalia would leave the Black Stars with very little chance of qualifying.
